Last Day Laundry

Laundry Kafe

Robert has given us a free day in Edinburgh and we have decided to take advantage of our freedom to get our clothes washing chores completed before we get to Frankfurt.

We Googled washaterias near the hotel and there were several. We chose the Laundry Kafe.

The reviews were good and it was less than a mile walk for us; important because we would be carrying two weeks of well worn clothing. We made our way, with iPhone leading us, and the route took us through a part of the city we would have not seen on a guided tour. I won’t say it was the “hood” but very “homey” and local. When we arrived at our destination, we were greeted by four excited but kind Scottish terriers and a young proprietor welcoming us to his shop. I won’t extend this story but he took our clothes and told to sit and have a coffee and snack or take a walk and he’d have our clothes ready in a couple of hours. We opted for the walk and found a great city park to wander away the time. Lucky find in a foreign country

Our ten-day UK trip ended with an over the top dinner at the Dome. Pictures will explain the over the top part.

After dinner Robert reviewed our trip and it was difficult to remember all the experiences we had but it was a very memorable journey.

Very early (alarm set for 2:30AM) flight tomorrow as we begin the second part of our trip to Germany and Poland. It will be an important and emotional venture for us to retrace the path of my father during his fifteen months as a prisoner of Germany during the Second World War. I’ll try to help you retrace the trip with us.
